* Dr Nyeong-Woo NAM Doctor of Chiropractic (DC MSc)
Hello, as a doctor* of chiropractic, it is my job to help you enjoy the full quality of a healthy life.
To me, the causes of your problems are just as much of a concern as your symptoms, because a holistic approach, where there are human biomechanical chains leading to a bodily imbalance, is a special interest of mine. I value individuality in each patient and believe that treatment should be personalised for everyone's own needs.

Pain in the back?
Four in five adults experience back pain. Yet, because the back is so complex, every sufferer needs individual treatment options. Inactivity, poor posture and the wrong sort of movement are usually at the root of ‘simple back pain’. But even a minor problem can cause a lot of pain when you stand, bend or move around.
There is an independent branch of medicine which specialises in mechanical disorders of joints, particularly the spine. It is not an alternative to conventional medicine, but a complementary discipline. Chiropractors use their hands to adjust the joints of the spine and extremities, improving mobility and removing pain without the need for drugs.
Is chiropractic treatment suitable for most people?
The simple answer is 'YES'. Chiropractic can provide care for most people with muscular-skeletal problems.
The Medical Research Council has found that treatment from a chiropractor can be very effective for general lower back pain..
How can chiropractic help you?
The word 'chiropractic' is derived from the Greek words `chiro` meaning: 'by hand', and `practikos` meaning: ‘to practice’ – so the word chiropractic literally means to practice-by-hand. To restore a bodily function, we need to restore the balance in the body, so chiropractors will mainly use their hands -- adjustment, manipulation, mobilisation of the joints, and soft tissue work for muscular problems.
In short, chiropractic is a drug-free method of restoring health to general people's muscular skeletal problems.
Advice and guide lines from the GCC (General Chiropractic Council)
Chiropractic could be effective for the management of cramp pain, tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), associated musculoskeletal conditions of the back and neck, including headaches arising from the neck(cervicogenic) and shoulder. Also, it may be effective in treating any inability to relax joint pains, including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis as an adjunct to core osteoarthritis treatments and exercise.
Chiropractic can also be helpful for general, acute and chronic backache, back pain (not arising from severe injury or accident), generalised aches and pains, lumbago, mechanical neck pain (as opposed to neck pain following severe injury i.e. whiplash), migraine prevention, minor sports injuries and tensions, muscle spasms, plantar fasciitis (short term management), rotator cuff injuries, disease or disorders, sciatica shoulder complaints (dysfunction, disorders and pain), soft tissue disorders of the shoulder.

Experience the power of High-Intensity Laser Therapy (HILT)
and Shockwave Therapy —
for faster pain relief and recovery.
ABOUT HILT : Discover Deep Tissue Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a medical light treatment that uses focused light to stimulate a process called photobiomodulation (PBM). During PBM, photons enter the tissue and trigger a biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism, which can decrease pain and inflammation and accelerate the healing process.
Most patients experience noticeable improvement within 3–6 sessions, depending on the severity and duration of the condition.
- Acute conditions: often respond in 3–5 sessions
- Chronic conditions: may require 6–10 sessions for sustained improvement
Each session usually lasts 10–15minutes, with no downtime — you can return to normal activities immediately.
What is Shock Wave Therapy (SWT)?
Shock Waves are acoustic waves that generate oscillations in the tissue. SWT helps reduce muscle pain and activate connective tissue, temporarily aid in the increase of blood flow, and help in the treatment of tendinitis in hips and shoulders, other part of body and helps to improve pain in various musculoskeletal conditions.
What doe SWT feel like?
Patients may report feeling soreness and a thumping sensation when the treatment head passes over dysfunctional tissues. Patients report feeling very little discomfort when it actively travels over healthy tissue. The level of discomfort depends on the area being treated, the settings on the device, and the acuity of the condition. Minor post-treatment soreness around the involved area is not uncommon.
How long do treatments last?
About 10 minutes.
Treatment course:
Most patients benefit from 3–6 sessions, typically once a week. Noticeable improvement is often felt after just a few treatments.
Your first visit
Your chiropractor needs a complete picture of your health in order to provide the best possible treatment for you as an individual. A full medical and health history is taken and you will be asked about personal and family medical history, including surgeries, medications, lifestyle activities and your symptoms or body signals.
Examination
A thorough examination will be performed at the initial visit. This will include orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic tests to help ascertain the problematic areas. X-rays or MRI scans may be ordered if necessary.
Report of findings
Your chiropractor will explain what is wrong and what can be done to fix it. If chiropractic can help you, a course of care will be recommended. Your individual care plan and treatment schedule will be designed to give your body the best chance of recovery.
Types of treatment
A Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) uses many specialised techniques to identify and treat these spinal and musclulo -skeletal abnormalities to optimise and restore overall bodily balance and your body's functions. The main treatment method used is the adjustment and rehabilitation.
Some types of adjustment can cause a popping sound to occur in the joint. Others types use special tables and devices to deliver the specific force to the involved area.
DC also use soft tissue techniques for treatment to muscles, tendons and ligaments. Posture education and therapeutic exercise may be prescribed and nutritional, dietary and lifestyle advice might also be offered.
As an additional treatment, DC may apply medical acupuncture with your consent.
What if we can't help?
Should your problem not be a chiropractic problem or within our scope of care, we will refer you to another appropriate health care provider.
